Canguru Mathematics

Canguru Mathematics Competition 2018.
Thursday, March 15, 2018
On the 15th March 2018, 53 of our Year 3, 4 and 5s joined over three hundred thousand students in Brazil, and nearly six million students worldwide, in the Canguru (Kangaroo) Mathematics competition. This is a multiple-choice test, which encourages the children to show their skills in problem solving and reasoning and not just arithmetic.

Gold medals are awarded to the children who score in the top 1% in the country and, at The British School of Brasilia (BSB), we are both delighted and proud of our gold medal winners: João Milton de Macêdo Claudino Saibrosa - Year 4; Yasmin Matthews - Year 5; Mingyun Cho - Y5; Oriol Cirera-Hughes - Year 5 and Anna Schneider Mascarenhas - Year 5.

We are also proud of our silver medal recipients, Matheus Brito Japiassu - Year 5; Anna Luisa Heery - Year 5; Carolina Cartaxo Pereira da Rocha Year 5 and Gustavo Ribeiro Wambier - Year 4. And Felipe Oliveira Ribeiro from Year 3 received a bronze medal.

This is BSB’s first year participating in the competition and we are aiming for even better results next
year!
