Sports Day

The British School of Brasilia organises Sports Day as a whole-school event that brings together pupils from all phases in a structured programme of physical activities and sporting challenges. The initiative is designed to promote participation, cooperation and engagement with physical education within the school environment.

Throughout the day, pupils take part in a range of sports tournaments, including football, volleyball, handball, basketball, and others. These activities involve students from different Year Groups and are organised to encourage teamwork, respect for rules and collective responsibility. Younger pupils participate in games specifically designed to support the development of agility, balance and coordination, aligning physical activity with age-appropriate learning objectives.

Secondary students engage in a series of challenges on the athletics field, with activities focused on coordination, stamina and sustained effort. These challenges are structured to emphasise individual contribution within a team context, supporting the development of perseverance and self-regulation during physical tasks.

The day concludes with relay races that involve all pupils, with staff members also participating as part of the House system. This final activity reinforces a sense of community and shared experience, while contributing to team-based scoring across the school.

Sports Day reflects the school’s approach to physical education as an integral component of holistic learning, fostering participation, collaboration and positive sporting conduct across the school community.
