EYFS Art Week
The children and teachers in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) take part in a messy and creative Art Week each year. During this week, the children learn about a well-known artist and re-create selected works as part of their learning experience. They also learn about colour mixing and selecting colours to represent their feelings. They produce shape-based compositions and create themed paintings as part of the collective experience.
Children in Pre-Nursery, Nursery and Reception also work together to create an art gallery, which is later open to families to come and admire the work of our young artists.
As a phase, the students collaborate on a shared canvas. They are also given the opportunity to paint their teachers using spraying and splatting techniques. To conclude the week, the children come to school dressed in their own artwork, while some choose to dress as artists.
