BA (Bachelor of Arts) with QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) from Manchester Metropolitan University
I have been teaching for 14 years with experience in both Early Years and Key Stage 1. I started my teaching career in Manchester teaching in inner city schools. I spent 5 years teaching in Japan, I enjoyed learning and working with a new curriculum which had a hands on and child centered ethos. For 3 years I also have taught in a British International school in Qatar, which has links with its sister school, a British Pre Prep School in Taunton. Having a diverse experience teaching in international schools, I look to always develop this further at The British School of Brasília. I like to provide children with a learning environment which is exciting, welcoming and safe. I believe that children learn from personal and hands on experience and I provide as many learning opportunities to reflect this. My experience has taught me that learning through play has an important impact on a child’s learning and I enjoy creating a teaching environment to encourage play and talk, which includes valuable role-play areas. In my free time I enjoy relaxing with a good book and a good cup of coffee. In Japan, I enjoyed my weekly salsa lessons and would like to start dance lessons again in Brasilia. I enjoy entertaining and cooking for friends and family and always on a look out for new cuisine to try out. I have a passion for travelling, I like learning about different cultures, languages and trying new foods.
