At The British School of Brasilia, pupils in Years 10 and 11 follow a rigorous and internationally recognised programme of study leading to the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE). These qualifications form a key stage in the British education pathway and provide a strong academic foundation for progression to post-16 study, including the International Baccalaureate® Diploma Programme (IBDP).

The IGCSE and GCSE curricula are designed to develop subject knowledge alongside essential academic skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, effective communication and independent learning. Pupils study a broad and balanced range of subjects, allowing them to deepen their understanding of core disciplines while also exploring areas aligned with their interests, strengths and future aspirations.

Assessment combines coursework and externally set examinations, encouraging consistent engagement and the application of knowledge in a variety of contexts. Throughout Years 10 and 11, pupils are supported by experienced teachers who provide structured guidance, high academic expectations and personalised support to help each learner achieve their full potential.

As the only international British school in Brasilia, BSB offers the IGCSE and GCSE programmes within a global learning environment that values diversity, cultural awareness and academic excellence. These qualifications are widely recognised by universities and educational institutions worldwide, equipping pupils with the confidence, qualifications and skills required to succeed in an increasingly interconnected world.
