Brazilian Curriculum

Related Information

At The British School of Brasilia, we offer an education that brings together the strengths of the English National Curriculum (ENC) and the requirements of the Brazilian education system. As an international British school located in the capital of Brazil, our academic provision reflects both our global mindedness and our local responsibility to ensure full compliance with national educational standards.

Our curriculum is founded on the ENC, providing pupils with a rigorous, well-structured and internationally recognised framework that promotes academic excellence, critical thinking and independent learning. Alongside this, we fully implement the Brazilian curriculum, as required by our accreditation with the Federal District State Department of Education. This dual-curriculum approach ensures that pupils benefit from a truly international education while meeting all statutory Brazilian educational requirements.

As a result of this accreditation, our students are eligible to obtain the Brazilian High School Graduation Certificate (Certificado de Conclusão do Ensino Médio), which enables them to apply to and attend any Brazilian university.

By combining the English National Curriculum with the Brazilian curriculum, The British School of Brasilia provides families with the assurance that their children are receiving an education that is both internationally respected and nationally recognised. This dual pathway reflects our commitment to academic integrity, educational continuity and the long-term success of our pupils, whether they choose to continue their studies in Brazil or abroad.

Brazilian Studies Subject (Years 10 – 13)

The integration of the Brazilian curriculum ensures that pupils in Years 10 to 13 develop a solid understanding of Brazilian culture, society and academic expectations, supported by structured study in Brazilian Literature, History, Geography and Art. This balanced approach equips students with the linguistic proficiency, academic credentials and cultural awareness required to pursue higher education in Brazil, while remaining equally well prepared for international pathways.
